About

Ad Astra Per Aspera is a latin phrase which means “to the stars through struggle.”  We first heard the phrase while visiting family in the great state of Kansas, where it is their state motto.  It became a personal motto for us over the next several years as we faced infertility and multiple pregnancy losses.  Through our darkest times we came to believe that our struggles can forge us into stronger people. We want to share this powerful message to others, especially to our children: 

You can overcome challenges to achieve great things.  

You can rise after a fall.  

You can turn obstacles into opportunities.  

Your struggles can help you soar.  

We design strong, beautiful products that inspire kids and families to soar “to the stars,” taking life’s challenges and turning them into triumphs. 

We founded Ad Astra Designs in 2019, naming our company after a phrase that continues to inspire our work and our mission.  The Luna Lounger was born in 2020 when our own search for a functional and stylish kids chair proved fruitless and we decided to create our own, naming it “moon” in latin.  We combined function and durability to create a cool, unique style that we’d be proud to have in our SoCal home.  We hope it inspires your family too!
